1 Rescued From Split Rock Quarry

7/1/23 at 00:41 hours this morning, Taunton units were activated for a “Missing Person Search” in the area of the Split Rock Quarry. Onondaga County 911 was in contact with the individual via cell phone and were able to pinpoint the caller’s location, which was approximately 1/4 mile into the wooded area at the base of the Quarry. Taunton Car 1 (Chief Phelan), Car 5 (LT. Martin), M1 w/ the UTV (FF. Flynn), and Rescue 1 (FF. E. Phelan) responded to the incident along with OCSO and AMR. Taunton units deployed the UTV as well as 2 members of the Bike Team and successfully located the individual within 10 minutes. The individual was extricated and turned over to AMR for further evaluation.

This is the first call the Taunton Fire Department has responded to where the Bike Team has been utilized. More to follow in regards to the progressive efforts our officers have put forth to get the “Bike Team” off the ground.
