July 11th 12:11 hours this morning, Taunton Engine 6 was activated for a possible apartment fire in the Onondaga Hill Fire District. The initial caller reported that the building was on fire and that there were still occupants inside. The first arriving OCSO unit reported heavy fire showing and civilian rescue efforts in progress. Onondaga Hill Car 1 arrived and declared a Signal 99, which was quickly upgraded to a Second Alarm as multiple apartments had heavy fire involvement. Taunton Engine 6 (Foreman Duck) & Car 1 (Chief Phelan) responded on the alarm. Upon arrival, Engine 6’s crew immediately deployed a second handline to the second floor and began an aggressive fire attack. Car 1 assumed Operations. Crews were met with heavy fire in multiple units, as well as void spaces throughout. Engine 6’s crew also assisted with “opening up” to check for any extension, as well as many other fire ground tasks. The fire was called “under control” just prior to the 1 hour mark and Taunton units were in service at approximately 03:00 hours.
